WHY BUY PRE-OWNED AT A DEALERSHIP?

We have a few things to say on the subject...

Buying a new vehicle is pretty simple. Pick the manufacturer you like and head to the dealership!

When it comes to buying a pre-owned vehicle, there are typically two options to choose from when you make your purchase; a private seller or a dealership.

Purchasing a vehicle from a private seller may seem a little easier, but it can leave you vulnerable to both issues with the vehicle they’re selling and possibly your personal safety.

Buying from a dealership offers protections that other avenues of acquiring vehicles do not, such as:

  • Every vehicle is inspected by a licensed technician, and the inspection results are always disclosed to the customer. In Alberta you should always be shown the Motor Vehicle Fitness Assessment as required by the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC).

  • A dealership can often provide you with a vehicle history that is more extensive than a private seller, at no cost to you. Kipp Scott GMC Cadillac Buick always provides a CarFax report for any pre-owned vehicle sold, and while not required by law, this is definitely a best practice when doing fair, transparent business.

  • Vehicles sold by dealerships are guaranteed lien free. If there is a lien, the dealership is ultimately responsible for it, not you.

  • A dealership can offer you financing options other than the ‘cash only’ most private sellers will require.

  • While not required by law, Kipp Scott GMC Cadillac Buick offers a 3 month/5,000 km warranty on most pre-owned vehicles, giving you peace of mind when choosing a vehicle that may be past the factory warranty period.
When buying a new-to-you vehicle, it's always best to do business in a comfortable, safe environment. Kipp Scott GMC Cadillac Buick has been a family owned and operated dealership for over 50 years and prides itself on building long term relationships with people in the community while doing fair business with full transparency.
